   Module name: XIMGPACK.MDL
   Module I.D.: XIMP
   Module type: Export module
   Author: Dirk Haun @ WI2
   Status: Freeware
   Version No: 0.03
   Version date: 19.07.1996
Purpose: Export of packed (X)IMG images

Description:

This module exports images, or marked blocks, in the XIMG (colour images)
or the IMG (monochrome) formats. In contrast to the XIMG_EXP.MDL module,
the images will also be compressed during the process.

Usage: This module can be selected in the 'Export' dialogue via the
'XIMG packer' pop-up entry. A file selector appears, in which you can
specify the name and path of the image.

Note: The module only works for images with up to 256 colours.

Personal opinion of the author: For images with more than 256 colours
there are more sensible formats than the plane-oriented IMG format (e.g.
TIFF or JPEG).

The packing routine in the form used here originates from Sebastian
Bieber @ HH, which in turn is based on an article in the 'ST-Computer'
magazine (issue 12/1992). I have merely transformed the routine into
a 'Look'n See' module.
